    We are SMG Metals

    SMG Metals is a family-run scrap metal business based in London, buying and collecting non-ferrous scrap from manufacturers across the region. Founded by Sidney Goldman in 1927 and now run by his grandson Daniel, we’ve spent almost a century building our reputation on honest weights, fair prices and instant payment.

    Today we specialise in manufacturing scrap and factory clearance, with same-day collection, on-site XRF analysis and full duty-of-care paperwork as standard. Our approach hasn’t changed since the day we started: treat every customer fairly, and they’ll keep coming back.

    Where it began

    1927
    Sidney M. Goldman set up the Scrap Metal Grading Company in West London. Sidney was a trusted, respected man with a sharp eye for business, and he quickly built a loyal customer base. Some of those customers still work with us today.

    The second generation

    1961
    In 1961, Sidney’s son Robert joined the business. His knowledge of the metal markets and his dedication helped the company grow, and under Robert we took on many of the contracts that shaped what we are today.

    The third generation

    2007
    Eighty years after Sidney started out, his grandson Daniel Goldman joined the family business. In 2014, we became SMG Metals, a new name built on the same foundations. Today we specialise in scrap metal and factory clearance for manufacturers, backed by modern tools like on-site XRF analysis.

    Celebrating 100 years

    2027
    Next year, we celebrate a century in business. Markets, metals and technology have changed beyond recognition since 1927, but the way we treat our customers hasn't.
